Apple has published its Top 200 suppliers list every year since 2011. When Apple announced its 2020 supplier list in 2021, 96 Chinese suppliers (including 47 from Taiwan) made the list, accounting for 48% of the total suppliers. China, the United States and Japan accounted for 161 suppliers, accounting for 80.5% of the total suppliers, showing a three-strong competition in the electronic industry. Among all suppliers, 96 are from China (including 47 from Taiwan and 10 from Hong Kong), ranking the first. Japan and the US followed with 34 and 31, respectively, in second and third place. South Korea ranked fourth and fifth with 14 and Germany with eight.

The number of suppliers in mainland China has increased from 23 in 2017 to 39 in 2020, an increase of 70%. This shows the rapid development and rapid rise of electronic suppliers in mainland China, and they are recognized by international high-end brands not only in quantity but also in quality. The U.S. and Japan, which are in the second tier, have fewer companies, but they are still strong in active components (especially semiconductor chips) and materials.
In terms of factory distribution, 156 suppliers' factories in mainland China were listed, accounting for 78% of the total number of enterprises.

There were 44 suppliers that did not set up factories in mainland China or did not set up factories in China, including 13 from Japan, 12 from the United States, 7 each from Europe and South Korea, and 5 from Taiwan. Among them, 22 active components (semiconductor) suppliers accounted for half of the total.
In the past five years, the number of Chinese enterprises entering the supply chain of Apple has been increasing year by year. In terms of the types of components supplied, in 2020, the number of mechanism parts enterprises has soared, the number of module, connector and passive components enterprises has increased, and the number of materials, circuit board and packaging printing enterprises has decreased. Of course, it's not as if Apple's suppliers aren't dropping off the list anymore. They may just be supplying fewer of them.
