Recently, Zhejiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology announced the assessment results of the provincial key laboratory responsibility period in 2020, and the Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of third-generation Semiconductor Materials and Devices relying on Huachan Optoelectronics (Zhejiang) Co., LTD successfully passed the acceptance test.
It is reported that the laboratory was established in 2019, as the first provincial key laboratory in Yiwu. The laboratory is committed to the core technology of third-generation semiconductor materials and devices. Centering on the key core material direction of the national new infrastructure, it carries out research work on the technology of next-generation semiconductor LED chip for display, semiconductor LED chip technology for high-light lighting and backlight, and GAN-based electronic and electrical device technology.
Up to now, the laboratory has acquired GaN epitaxial growth technology and core device preparation technology with independent intellectual property rights, undertaken 1 national project and 3 provincial and ministerial projects, and applied for 50 domestic invention patents, including 46 authorized invention patents, formulated 1 national standard, and published 5 papers.

The acceptance of the laboratory in the third generation of semiconductor materials and devices in the research and development of new progress, new breakthrough, also marks the laboratory formally into the construction period, for the later construction of the national key laboratory to build an engine.
In the future, the laboratory will continue to follow the development mode of "core technology + industry and application field", with Mirco new display, GAN-based power electronic devices and MiniLED backlight as the key research direction, expand the technical application scenarios, tackle key technical problems, and promote the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements.
The laboratory will further strengthen the construction of hardware facilities, introduce high-end scientific research talents, improve the training mechanism of laboratory scientific research talents, further strengthen the market-oriented orientation, and improve the efficiency of scientific and technological achievements transformation.
